Haryana: JJP leader Ravindra Minna shot dead in Panipat, two others injured; accused on the run
PTC Web Desk: JJP leader Ravindra Minna was shot dead in Panipat, Haryana, on Friday evening. The victim, Ravindra alias Minna (32), was allegedly killed by his neighbour using a licensed pistol around 7.30 pm. Two others were also shot and are currently undergoing treatment in critical condition. The accused fled the scene in his vehicle.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the attack was linked to a family dispute between the accused, Ranbir, and his brother-in-law. Ranbir, a native of Jagsi village in Sonepat, resided in the same lane as Ravindra in Vikas Nagar, Panipat. According to eyewitnesses, Ranbir arrived at a neighbour’s house in the evening, asked for water, and suddenly shot Vinay in the stomach. Hearing the gunfire, Ravindra and Vineet rushed to the spot, but Ranbir immediately fired at Ravindra’s forehead and also shot Vineet in the abdomen.
Following the incident, the injured were rushed to a private hospital in Siwah, where doctors declared Ravindra dead on arrival. The other two victims remain in critical condition.
Ravindra alias Minna had been associated with JJP and had contested the 2014 Haryana Assembly elections from the Panipat City seat. He later joined the BJP, supporting candidate Rohita Rewri, before switching back to JJP.
Panipat DSP Suresh Kumar Saini confirmed the incident, stating that Ravindra’s body has been sent for post-mortem, and a case has been registered based on the family's statements. The accused is on the run, and efforts are underway to arrest him soon.
