Haryana bans gutkha, pan masala for 1 year

PTC News Desk: In a significant move ahead of the Haryana Assembly elections 2024, the state government has extended the ban on the sale of gutkha and pan masala for another year. This extension also prohibits the storage, manufacture, and use of these products across the state.

The Food and Drug Administration Department issued a notification on Friday asking all District Deputy Commissioners, Police Superintendents, Civil Surgeons, and Food Safety Officers to aggressively enforce the guidelines. The move plans to reduce the use and distribution of tobacco and nicotine products, hence protecting the health and safety of the people of Haryana.

Earlier, the manufacture, sale, storage, and use of products containing tobacco and nicotine, including gutkha and pan masala were banned in the state on September 7, last year.
