Haryana bandh: Khap representatives to block Mandothi toll plaza, demand Brij Bhushan's arrest & more
Haryana Bandh: Bhumi Bachao Sangharsh Samiti (BBSS) and Khap representatives have called for Haryana Bandh on Wednesday (June 14). The state would remain closed from 10 am to 4 pm sources said.
Kisan Sangathan and Khap representatives will gather at KMP Expressway at 10 am and block the expressway at the Mandothi Toll Plaza. After this, protesters are planning to block Delhi-Rohtak National Highway 9.
Farmers and Khap members will block several roads and railways under the leadership of Ramesh Dalal, president of BBSS.
Khap leaders have called for Haryana Bandh in support of its 25-point demands, which include the arrest of WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, four-time higher compensation than market rates for land acquisition, waiving off farmers’ loans among others.
Notably, a guarantee for MSP was also on the demand list. However, on Tuesday, the Haryana government stood in support of the farmers and agreed to increase MSP for sunflower crops.
While addressing media, Kurukshetra DC Shantanu Sharma said, "Haryana government has always stood in support of the farmers. CM has agreed to increase MSP for sunflower crop." Farmer leader Karam Singh Mathana also said that the Haryana government has agreed to their demand for implementation of the Minimum Support Price (MSP) of Rs 6,400 for sunflower seeds.
