Har Ghar Tiranga: Over 88 million selfies with national flag uploaded on website by noon
Har Ghar Tiranga: Over 88 million selfies featuring the national flag were shared on the central government's 'Har Ghar Tiranga' website by 12 noon on Tuesday. This surge in uploads came in response to the three-day campaign initiated following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent call to action on Sunday.
The 'Har Ghar Tiranga' website's homepage features an option for users to upload selfies displaying the flag. The site proudly announced that a staggering 88,121,591 (88 million) such selfies had been submitted by noon on Tuesday. This campaign, titled 'Har Ghar Tiranga,' encourages citizens to adorn their homes with the Indian flag from August 13 to 15, commemorating the 77th Independence Day.
The website offers two avenues to upload selfies: one featuring the flag and another with a digital representation of the tricolor. Upon scrolling down, users are treated to images of Union ministers, celebrities, and sports personalities proudly posing with the Indian flag. Notable figures include Union Home Minister Amit Shah, former cricketer Parthiv Patel, actor Anupam Kher, and singer Kailash Kher.
Launched on July 22 of the previous year to celebrate the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' (75 years of India's independence), PM Modi spearheaded the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign. In a recent social media post, the Prime Minister renewed his call to action, urging citizens to adopt the Tricolour as their display picture to support the campaign's spirit. As a demonstration of his commitment, PM Modi also changed his own social media display picture to the national flag.
As part of the week-long celebratory events, Union ministers participated in the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' bike rally around the Pragati Maidan area in Delhi on Friday. This rally marked the second edition of the campaign and was inaugurated by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar. The rally's route included Mathura Road, Bhairon Road, India Gate, and the Pragati Maidan tunnel.
During the rally, a video shared by ANI depicted Kishan Reddy confidently steering the bike, with Anurag Thakur seated behind, clutching the Indian flag. The chorus of 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' echoed throughout the event. Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje from Karnataka also enthusiastically participated in the bike rally.
Simultaneously, Independence Day was celebrated nationwide, with PM Modi raising the national flag at the Red Fort on Tuesday morning in the presence of esteemed dignitaries, ministers, school children, and other attendees.
