Gujarat: PM Modi to lead BJP's campaign with over 20 rallies

Surat (Gujarat), November 19: The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is nearing the end of its campaign in Gujarat, and it is counting on its most popular face to lead the charge. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to hold nearly 25 rallies across the state over the next two weeks.

PM Modi will have a jam-packed three-day schedule in his home state beginning Saturday evening.

After landing in Gujarat, the Prime Minister will address a rally in Valsad on November 19 evening.

The following day, PM Modi will visit Somnath Temple before speaking at four rallies in the Saurashtra region. The four rallies will take place in Veraval, Dhorarji, Amreli, and Botad. The BJP did not win a single seat in these Saurashtra assembly constituencies in the last assembly elections. The party won the state elections but was unable to break through the Congress barrier.

PM Modi will hold three rallies on Day 3 in Surendranagar, Bharuch, and Navsari. While former Congress strongman Ahmed Patel represented Bharuch, BJP state president CR Paatil, who is from Navsari, has won his Lok Sabha seat with one of the highest margins in the country.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who is also from Gujarat, and BJP national president JP Nadda are expected to hold more than 15 rallies in the state before the election.

The party has already compiled a list of 40 star campaigners, including the chief ministers of BJP-ruled states. They are also expected to campaign for at least 2-3 days, during which at least 2-3 rallies will be held. Candidates for Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma are clamouring to campaign in the state.
