PTC Web Desk: Former world champion boxer Saweety Boora was caught on camera assaulting her husband, Kabaddi player Deepak Niwas Hooda, inside a police station in Hisar, Haryana, amid their ongoing divorce proceedings. The incident reportedly took place on March 15, with a video surfacing on social media showing Saweety Boora lunging towards Hooda during a heated exchange and grabbing him by the throat. Family members had to intervene to separate them, but the argument continued inside the police station.

Saweety Boora had earlier filed for divorce, accusing Hooda of harassment and domestic violence over dowry demands. In her FIR lodged on February 25, she alleged that Hooda and his family had been physically assaulting her and demanding more dowry, including a luxury car. The case has been registered under Section 85 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which pertains to cruelty by a husband or his relatives.

Confirming the complaint, Seema, SHO of the Women Police Station in Hisar, stated that Hooda was served multiple notices but failed to appear. Responding to the allegations, Hooda, who has also received the Arjuna Award, claimed that he had requested a later date due to health issues caused by stress. He also refrained from making negative comments about Boora, stating, "I have not been allowed to meet her."

Boora and Hooda tied the knot in 2022, but their marriage soon became troubled. Hooda, a former captain of the Indian Kabaddi team, represented India in various international tournaments, winning a gold medal at the 2016 South Asian Games and a bronze medal at the 2014 Asian Games. He also played in the Pro Kabaddi League and contested the 2024 Haryana Assembly elections as a BJP candidate from Meham constituency in Rohtak district, though he was unsuccessful.
