Former Karnataka DGP murder: Wife threw chilli powder into his eyes before fatally stabbing him, say sources
PTC Web Desk: In a shocking development, the police investigating the murder of former Karnataka Director General of Police (DGP) Om Prakash have revealed that his wife, Pallavi, allegedly threw chili powder into his eyes before fatally stabbing him, according to sources.
The 68-year-old retired IPS officer was found dead in a pool of blood at his residence in Bengaluru’s upscale HSR Layout on Sunday. Om Prakash, a 1981-batch IPS officer and native of Champaran, Bihar, had retired as DGP in 2015. He held a Master’s degree in Geology.
Police sources claim that a heated argument between the couple preceded the brutal act. As the former top cop struggled with the irritation from the chilli powder, Pallavi allegedly stabbed him multiple times, leading to his instant death. Following the attack, she reportedly made a video call to a friend and said, “I have killed the monster.”
Both Pallavi and their daughter, Kriti, have been detained by the police for questioning. Investigators say the murder may have been driven by an ongoing property dispute involving a plot of land in Dandeli, Karnataka.
Sources also noted that Pallavi had earlier attempted to file a complaint at the HSR Layout police station. When her efforts failed, she staged a sit-in protest outside the station. Additionally, it has come to light that she was undergoing treatment for schizophrenia.
