Fire breaks out in Durg-Puri Express in Odisha; no casualties reported
Bhubaneswar, June 9: Another train tragedy was averted when a fire broke out in an AC coach of Durg-Puri Express in Odisha's Nuapada district. No casualties were reported from the incident.
Panic gripped passengers as it comes after a deadly train accident in the state, which claimed over 200 lives and left more than 1,000 injured.
In a statement, the ECoR said smoke was detected in B3 coach of Durg-Puri Express as it reached the Khariar Road station on Thursday evening.
The statement added that the brake pads caught fire due to friction and incomplete release of brakes. Since the fire was confined to brake pads, there was no damage.
The train departed the station at 11 pm after the problem was rectified, the statement added.
