Fearing Meerut murder re-run, UP man marries off wife to her lover
PTC Web Desk: In a shocking turn of events, a man from Uttar Pradesh’s Sant Kabir Nagar district arranged his wife’s marriage to her lover, citing fears for his own safety following the recent Meerut murder case.
According to a report, Bablu, a resident of Katar Mishra village under Dhanghta police station limits, took the unusual step after growing concerned over the killing of Saurabh Rajput in Meerut, allegedly by his wife Muskan Rastogi and her lover Sahil. The gruesome case, where the victim's body was found hidden in a drum, has been making headlines for the past week.
Bablu, who works as a labourer outside the state, had married Radhika, a native of Gorakhpur district, in 2017. The couple has two children. Locals revealed that Radhika had been in a relationship with a man named Vishal, also from the same village, for the past one and a half years.
After learning about his wife's affair, Bablu initially asked her to end the relationship. However, when Radhika refused, Bablu decided to resolve the matter without conflict. He arranged for Radhika and Vishal to get married, fearing a situation similar to the Meerut case.
The marriage was solemnised at a local temple in Dhanghta Tehsil, in the presence of villagers and an agreement was signed between the two parties. Bablu mentioned that none of the family members had any objections to the arrangement.
He also stated that he would retain custody of his two children. When questioned about the legality of the marriage, given that he and Radhika had not officially divorced, Bablu maintained that the marriage was valid as it had community approval and no objections from relatives.
