Farmers' protest: Massive jam at Delhi-Noida borders; police force deployed
PTC Web Desk: New Delhi is experiencing severe traffic congestion at its borders with Noida as security personnel intensify vehicle searches ahead of anticipated farmer protests in Noida and Greater Noida. The police, along with Rapid Action Force, are deployed to maintain order, utilising riot control vehicles and drones for comprehensive surveillance.
Farmers, who had previously staged a historic protest in Delhi three years ago, are preparing for another round of demonstrations over various issues. The authorities in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh have taken measures to prevent different groups of protesting farmers from entering Delhi, using cement barriers, sandbags, and barbed wires, along with imposing prohibitory orders.
Two separate protests are scheduled, with the first involving farmers from Noida and Greater Noida, who have been demanding higher compensation and developed plots for their acquired land. They plan to march to Parliament to press for their demands.
To prevent farmers from gathering at borders or entering Delhi, the Noida police have implemented prohibitory orders and issued a traffic advisory. Concerns about potential disruptions by anti-national elements have been cited as a reason for these measures.
As per officials, heavy force has been deployed at all Noida-Delhi borders, with thorough vehicle checks and efforts to minimise inconvenience for commuters. Discussions with the protesting farmers are also underway.
Preparations are underway at Delhi's borders with Haryana to block the anticipated farmer entry on Tuesday. Cement barriers and sandbags reminiscent of the 2020-21 protests are being set up, and notices have been issued by Haryana police warning farmers against participating.

Farmers in Haryana and Punjab, planning a tractor march, have demands including a guaranteed Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops, farmer pensions, crop insurance, and the withdrawal of FIRs filed against farmers in the 2020 protests. Haryana police have sought central forces' assistance to secure their borders with Punjab.
Notably, the Samyukt Kisan Morcha, leading the 2020 protest, is not part of this demonstration, which is led by Samyukta Kisan Morcha (apolitical). Various outfits from Haryana are also expected to join the protest.
