Farmers' protest Day 2: 'We are ready for discussions': Arjun Munda to protesters

Farmers' protest update: On the second day of the farmers' protest, Union Minister Arjun Munda expressed the government's willingness to engage in discussions with the protesting farmers. Munda urged the farmers to create a conducive environment for these discussions, emphasising the importance of considering all perspectives.

"We are prepared for discussions. We need to consider all sides and engage in talks," Arjun Munda stated while addressing mediapersons. He appealed to the farmers' union to facilitate a positive atmosphere for the ongoing discussions, reiterating the government's commitment to constructive dialogue.

The farmers' protest caused disruptions in traffic at the Delhi border, with the police installing multiple layers of barricades and restricting vehicle movement at the Singhu and Tikri borders due to the farmers' planned march to Delhi. While the borders with Haryana were completely closed, regulated vehicular movement continued at the Ghazipur border.

To deter the farmers' march to Delhi, a stretch of road near the Singhu border village was excavated. The farmers, advocating for a law on minimum support price, are en route to Delhi after inconclusive talks with a team of Union ministers. The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (Non-Political) and the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha announced that the farmers would proceed to Delhi to exert pressure on the Centre to address their demands.

Police fire tear gas at farmers gathered at Punjab-Haryana Shambhu border 

The police resorted to firing multiple rounds of teargas shells to disperse farmers who were approaching the police barricade at the Punjab-Haryana Shambhu border, aiming to resume the 'Dilli Chalo' protest on Wednesday. In anticipation of potential unrest, the Delhi Police have implemented Section 144, restricting the entry of tractor trolleys and large assemblies to maintain law and order.

The farmers' protest has led to significant traffic jams at the Delhi-Ghaziabad border on Wednesday, with security checks intensifying as the authorities manage the situation. To address the escalating tensions, Rapid Action Force personnel, police personnel, and Riot Control Vehicles have been deployed at the Singhu Border in Delhi, where farmers are actively participating in the protest.

Morning visuals from the Shambhu border in Ambala, Haryana, showcased heightened security arrangements as farmers, who had marched towards Delhi the previous day, clashed with the police. The ongoing developments reflect the complex and tense atmosphere surrounding the 'Dilli Chalo' protest.
