Family bids final goodbye to Dr. Manmohan Singh, ashes immersed in Yamuna; Antim ardas and kirtan to follow
PTC News Desk: A day after former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh was laid to rest with full state honours, his ashes were immersed in Yamuna Ghat near Delhi’s Gurudwara Majnu Ka Tilla on Sunday.
The family members of Dr. Singh immersed the ashes into the Yamuna. The family has scheduled Akhand Path at Dr. Singh’s residence on January 1, 2025. Antim ardas and Kirtan will be held at Gurdwara Rakabganj in Delhi on January 3.

The last rites of Dr. Manmohan Singh were conducted with full state honours on Saturday. Several dignataries including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, President Droupadi Murmu, Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankar and several other foreign officials were in attendance.
Manmohan Singh’s wife Gursharan Kaur laid a wreath on his body as his family paid their last respects. The former PM’s daughter lit his funeral pyre at the crematorium. Dr. Singh embarked on his final journey from Congress headquarters where his mortal remains were kept for public to pay their tributes.
He was taken to Nigambodh Ghat crematorium in a flower-decked Army ceremonial truck where Congress MP Rahul Gandhi also accompanied Singh's family.
As a mark of respect to former PM Manmohan Singh, a seven-day national mourning is being observed throughout the country during which the national flag will be flown at half-mast across the nation, the Union Home Ministry announced.
