Fake ticket sale: The illegal selling of tickets for the highly anticipated Coldplay and Diljit Dosanjh's Dil-Luminati concerts has prompted action from ED. The probe agency has conducted a massive search operation spanning five states: Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Chandigarh, and Bangalore.

This action follows the filing of numerous FIRs pertaining to fraudulent ticket sales in different states.

As a result of the enormous buzz created by Coldplay's "Music of the Spheres World Tour" and Diljit Dosanjh's "Dil-Luminati," tickets for the concerts quickly sold out on official websites like Bookmyshow and Zomato Live. But because of this demand, tickets were illegally sold for outrageous prices, and there have been multiple cases of people being duped or defrauded by fraudulent ticket sales.

Bookmyshow accused a number of suspects in an FIR of selling counterfeit tickets and raising prices in order to profit from the strong demand. In accordance with the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002, the ED has launched a probe and searched more than 13 locations in the five states, obtaining incriminating materials like SIM cards, laptops, and cell phones that were used in the scam.

"Multiple FIRs have been filed in various states across the country including an FIR filed by Bookmyshow against several suspects believed to be exploiting concertgoers. The FIR alleges that these individuals have engaged in selling counterfeit tickets and drastically inflating prices, taking advantage of the high demand for these coveted concerts," the probe agency said.

The ED has been investigating illegal ticket sales, uncovering the financial networks supporting these scams, and tracing the proceeds of crime generated from these activities. The investigation showed that several people used social media platforms such as Instagram, WhatsApp, and Telegram to sell fake tickets.

"Normally, tickets are available on platforms like Zomato, Bookmyshow, and others. However, when the demand for concert tickets is very high, they sell out quickly, leading people to seek alternate sources. Searches and investigations conducted by ED have revealed information regarding multiple individuals known for providing such tickets including fake tickets through social media using Instagram, WhatsApp and Telegram," the probe agency added.
