Extortion case: Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar declared fugitive by Chandigarh court
Chandigarh, November 23: Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar (34), key accused in Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala murder case, has been declared a fugitive by the Chandigarh District Court in a Rs 1 crore extortion case. A case was registered against him on the basis of a complaint filed by a Chandigarh businessman.
Meanwhile, the Chandigarh court has also framed charges against Manjit Singh, a resident of Kishangarh village in Chandigarh, in this case. A case has been registered under various sections of the IPC and the Arms Act. The case will now come up for hearing on November 29.

The complainant then received a call on January 27, wherein the caller said "his children would be kidnapped if the extortion amount was not paid".
The businessman alleged that when he asked the caller that he could pay only Rs 5 lakh, he was pressured to pay Rs 25 lakh in two installments — Rs 10 lakh and Rs 15 lakh.
The complainant then reportedly received a call from another accused, Manjit, in February. He introduced himself as a relative of gangster Sampat Nehra. He called the businessman to meet him in Panchkula. The complainant reportedly transferred Rs 3 lakh to the bank account mentioned by Manjit Singh and gave Rs 4 lakh in cash. Another person was also present at the spot.
On February 8, Manjit Singh was arrested by the Chandigarh Police following a complaint and a pistol, four live cartridges, one SIM card and two cellphones were recovered from his possession.

Goldy Brar is an accomplice of Lawrence Bishnoi. He was the mastermind in the Moosewala murder case. The plan was hatched by him sitting in Canada.
Punjab Police DGP Gaurav Yadav had recently said efforts were being made to bring Goldy Brar to India.
