Excise case: High security outside CBI office as agency set to produce Sisodia in Court

New Delhi, March 4: As CBI gears up to produce former Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia before a local court, heavy security can be seen outside the agency's headquarters.

Delhi Police, Rapid Action Force, and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel have been deployed outside the CBI office.

For the unversed, CBI will produce Manish Sisodia before a local court at the end of his 5-day remand in the liquor policy case.

The CBI arrested Sisodia for alleged irregularities in the framing and implementation of Delhi's new excise policy. The policy was withdrawn after the Opposition accused the government of wrongdoing.

Moreover, the senior AAP leader moved a fresh regular bail plea before a trial court in the national capital, stating that no fruitful purpose would be served keeping him in custody as all the recoveries in the case have already been made.

The plea further read that Sisodia has been cooperating in the investigation and had appeared whenever summoned by the CBI. The other accused persons arrested in this case have already been granted bail, it added.

Sisodia also claimed in his petition that he held the important constitutional position of deputy chief minister and has deep roots in society.

This bail application will be heard later on Saturday by Special Judge MK Nagpal.

Sisodia is also scheduled to appear in court on Saturday, at the end of his remand period, which was granted on February 27.
