Eight dead, several injured in blast in Tamil Nadu firecracker factory
Krishnagiri (Tamil Nadu), July 29: At least eight people were found killed and several sustained injuries in a blast in the godown of a firecracker factory in Tamil Nadu's Krishnagiri district on Saturday. According to reports, the deceased included three women.
Saroj Kumar Thakore, the Superintendant of Police in Krishnagiri, stated that the explosion occurred inside a firecracker factory owned by one Ravi in the Pazhayapettai area.
The fire quickly spread to surrounding shops and homes.
Police and firefighters raced to the scene and began rescue operations.
“As many as seven people have been declared dead and the few others injured have been taken to a nearby Government hospital for treatment," the official said.
Thakore later revealed that one more person was killed in the mishap.
The injured and rescued individuals were taken to Krishnagiri Government Medical College Hospital for treatment.
