PTC News Desk: The Election Commission has directed AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal to substantiate his serious allegations that Haryana government is poisoning Yamuna river to disrupt water supply ahead of Delhi elections.

The poll body asked Kejriwal to submit his response by 8 pm on Wednesday.

The Commission has directed Kejriwal to furnish his response on the complaints, especially on the factual and legal matrix along with evidentiary support thereof by 8PM on 29th January, so as to enable the Commission to examine the matter and take action as appropriate.

Earlier, the poll panel had directed the Haryana government to submit a factual report by January 28 regarding allegations of increased ammonia levels in the water supplied from Haryana to Delhi.

Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal while addressing a rally said, " “The Delhi Jal Board officials suspected that something was wrong with the water coming from Haryana. When we tested it, we found that they had mixed poison. You want to kill the people of Delhi. Why did they do it? They thought that if a few people die in Delhi, all the blame would fall on me, to defame me and gain votes. Do you want to kill the people of Delhi?” Kejriwal alleged.

The Election Commission noted that such allegations, has serious ramifications of creating enmity between the regional groups, residents of the neighboring States, threat of law-and-order situation due to actual or perceived shortage or non-availability of water, during this time of the year. It is presumed that the Government of NCT of Delhi must have officially taken up such a serious and grave issue of public health with the State government of Haryana.
