Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim: Dera Sacha Sauda chief’s parole ends today
PTC News Desk: Dera Sacha Sauda Chief Ram Rahim was granted 40-day parole which ends today. Gurmeet Ram Rahim is serving sentence in the case of sexual assault of women saints and murder of journalist Ramchandra Chhatrapati, will reach Rohtak’s Sunaria jail on Friday.
He was released from jail on parole and completed his tenure in Bhagpat. On Thursday there was a serious and heated discussion regarding bringing Gurmeet Ram Rahim to jail as his parole has ended.

According to information Gurmeet Ram Rahim will be leaving Bhagpat on Friday morning and it’s a possibility he will be brought to Rohtak’s Sunaria Jail between 10 am and 11 am. After the completion of his 40 day parole he is brought to jail. The administration is aware regarding his return and tight security arrangements have been strengthened by police.
There was strong opposition to parole
There was a massive protest against the 40-day parole given to Gurmeet Ram Rahim, who was serving his sentence in jail. Gurmeet Ram Rahim had sent an application for parole for 40 days to the jail administration to attend 'Bhandara and satsang' on the birthday of Shah Satnam Singh. After which the Dera chief got parole after getting the approval, but many opposition parties and organizations strongly opposed the parole of the Dera chief. In October 2022 also, the Dera chief was given parole for 40 days.
Controversy over cutting the cake with a knife
When Dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim cut a cake with a kirpan on Shah Satnam Singh's birthday, a video of it went viral on social media. Regarding which the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee expressed their displeasure and said that Gurmeet Ram Rahim had hurt their faith by cutting the cake with a kirpan. Kirpan is considered a religious symbol associated with the faith of Sri Sahib Sikhs.
