Dense fog disrupts rail services in North India; 14 trains delayed
PTC Web Desk: Rail operations in North India were significantly disrupted on Saturday morning due to dense fog and low visibility, with at least 14 trains running behind schedule.
The delays ranged from 30 minutes to over two hours, impacting key trains such as the Gorakhdham Express, delayed by 91 minutes, and the Kaifiyat Express, running 37 minutes late. Other affected trains included the Vikramshila Express (50 minutes), S Kranti Superfast Express (30 minutes), Anvt Humsafar (57 minutes), and Jalianwala B Express, which was delayed by one hour and 8 minutes.
Further delays were reported for the Padmavat Express (59 minutes), Satyagraha Express (56 minutes), and Nauchandi Express (85 minutes). The Ap Express was delayed by 97 minutes, while the Gondwana SF Express faced a significant delay of 138 minutes. Additional delays included the MP Sampark Kranti (36 minutes) and the NZM Humsafar Express, running one hour and one minute late.
Meanwhile, Delhi experienced a minimum temperature of 12°C and a maximum of 19°C on Saturday. The city recorded its highest December rainfall in 15 years on Friday, following continuous rains that began early Thursday.
The rainfall slightly improved Delhi’s air quality, although it remained in the 'very poor' category. The Air Quality Index (AQI) was recorded at 355 by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) as of 2 pm.
