Delhi rain havoc: 3 civil service aspirants die in coaching centre flooding; BJP blames AAP

Delhi rain havoc: On Saturday, three would-be civil officials perished after becoming stuck in the flooded basement of a tutoring center in Old Rajendra Nagar, Delhi. The Delhi fire department started a rescue operation at around 7 o'clock in the evening after receiving a report of waterlogging at the Rao IAS Study Center, according to the police. A criminal case has been opened by the authorities in connection with the students' deaths.

Latest Updates on the Delhi Coaching Center Incident:

  1. A female student's body was initially recovered from the flooded coaching center by the NDRF, local police, and fire department. Later, two more students' bodies were found.

  2. Approximately 30 students were inside the center when it began to flood. Around 13 to 14 were rescued and taken to the hospital, while others escaped.



  3. Fire Officer Atul Garg reported that five fire vehicles responded to the flooding.

  4. DCP Central M Harshavardhan stated that rescue operations were ongoing, with about seven feet of water still in the basement. The operation is nearing completion, with only one final search round pending.



  5. Students protested against the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), alleging poor drainage maintenance at the site.

  6. Police urged students to avoid protesting to not disrupt rescue efforts.

  7. Delhi police have registered a criminal case and detained two individuals. DCP Harshavardhan emphasised the commitment to a thorough investigation into the incident.


  8. Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva criticised the AAP government, calling for an inquiry into alleged corruption within the MCD and the government's handling of drainage maintenance.

  9. BJP leader Shehzad Poonwalla called the incident "murder" due to alleged negligence by the AAP government.

  10. Delhi minister Atishi stated that those responsible would not be spared, and a magistrate's investigation has been ordered.
