Delhi Police on alert after blast at Bengaluru's Rameshwaram cafe
PTC News Desk: The Delhi Police has increased security following a low-intensity blast at a popular Bengaluru cafe that injured ten people, an official said today.
District police chiefs have been directed to increase vigilance in crowded areas, particularly Delhi's markets, according to the official.
A senior police officer stated that market associations have been asked to remain vigilant and approach their local police stations if they discover any suspicious activity.
The associations have also been instructed to ensure that the CCTV cameras installed on the premises are operational, he stated.
Another officer stated that the Delhi Police has instructed its bomb disposal and detection squads to remain on alert.
A low-intensity blast rocked Rameshwaram Cafe in Bengaluru's Brookefield area on Saturday, injuring ten people, including staff and customers.
According to Bengaluru Police, the blast was caused by an improvised explosive device with a timer in a bag left near the eatery's handwash area by a "customer".
The local police have filed a case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Explosive Substances Act.
