Delhi Police bust fake visa racket in Tilak Nagar, 7 arrested

Fake visa racket busted: Delhi police have busted a gang of counterfeit visa operators and arrested seven persons in Tilak Nagar, west Delhi.

Equipment used to make fake visas, as well as 14 Nepalese and two Indian passports, have been seized, and further investigations are underway to apprehend their other affiliates, the police said.


According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (IGI Airport) Usha Rangnani, the matter came to light on September 2 when a passenger tried to travel from Indira Gandhi International Airport for Rome, Italy, with a fake visa.

"During the verification of his paperwork at the immigration counter, a fake Swedish visa was discovered attached to his Indian passport. He was then arrested," Rangnani stated. An FIR was filed, and an inquiry was started.

The authorities discovered that the passenger, who wanted to move abroad, had contacted one of the the accused, a travel agent. "The accused agreed to send the passenger to a European country in exchange of Rs 10 lakh," she stated.
