Initial reports suggest that multiple families were living in the building on rent. The authorities suspect that the structure may have been weakened over time, potentially contributing to the collapse.
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and extended her condolences to the grieving families. She also ordered an immediate inquiry into the cause of the collapse and promised that those responsible will face strict legal action. “May the souls of the deceased rest in peace, and may the families find strength in this difficult time,” she wrote on social media platform X.
