Delhi High Court grants interim bail to Engineer Rashid to attend parliament session
PTC News Desk: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday granted interim bail to Jammu and Kashmir MP Engineer Rashid to attend the Parliament session. Rashid has been allowed to attend the session from March 26 to April 4 while “in custody”.
The court rejected the apprehension of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) that he would be beyond the court’s control. It observed, “Such apprehension is without any basis since the appellant will only temporarily be handed over to the Parliament security, that too for the limited purpose.”
The court issued a directive to the Director General (Prisons) to send the Baramullah MP in 'police custody'under police escort to the Parliament during the designated period.
Engineer Rashid will be under tight security of Parliament security/marshals who will facilitate all the facilities amenities within the House during the session and will allow him to attend the proceedings.
His custody will be handed back to the prison escort, who will bring him back to prison straight from the Parliament, on the same day, without any delay, the court said.
