Delhi Drug Bust: 200 kg cocaine worth Rs 2,000 crore seized in Delhi
Delhi Drug Bust: The Special Cell busted a drug network in Ramesh Nagar, and seized 200 kilos of cocaine worth Rs 2,000 crore on Thursday.
The Delhi Police Special Cell used GPS to track down the drug dealer and found him in Ramesh Nagar, west Delhi.
The accused fled to London, but the cops were able to seize the drugs. This is part of the same syndicate when the Delhi Police confiscated Rs 5,600 of cocaine.
Police seized 762 kg of drugs worth over Rs 7,500 crore in a week. This is the largest narcotics haul in the country.
Last week, more than 500 kg of cocaine was confiscated in what was the largest narcotics bust in the national capital. Four men were arrested in connection with the drug seizure following a raid in South Delhi.
Special Cell cops arrested Jitendra Pal Singh, popularly known as Jassi, at the airport in Punjab's Amritsar as he attempted to flee to the United Kingdom, revealing a link between organised crime in that nation and a pan-India network smuggling illegal drugs into India.
According to the police, the massive cocaine cargo was organised by an international narcotics smuggling ring.
The police were informed of Singh's attempted escape - he has been a 'permanent resident' in the UK for the past 17 years - as they issued LOC, or look-out circular, against him.
The officials suspect this drug syndicate, which operates out of Delhi and Mumbai in India, also has ties to Dubai. During the interrogation of suspects by Delhi Police, the name of an Indian citizen, Virendra Basoya, who currently lives in the West Asian country, was flagged.
