PTC News Desk: A Delhi court summoned YouTuber Dhruv Rathee in a defamation case filed by Mumbai BJP leader Suresh Karamshi Nakhua, alleging Rathee called him a "violent and abusive" troll in one of his recent videos.

Rathee posted a video titled "My Reply to Godi YouTubers | Elvish Yadav | Dhruv Rathee" on his YouTube account on July 7, 2024. Nakhua, a BJP spokesperson in Mumbai, claimed that Rathee referred to him as a "violent and abusive troll" with no rhyme or reason. He further stated that Rathee's charges had resulted in widespread criticism and ridicule.

On July 19, District Judge Gunjan Gupta of the Saket Court issued a notice to Rathee regarding Nakhua's plea for interim relief. The case will now be heard on August 6.

“That the defendant No.1 (Dhruv Rathee), who in a highly provocative and incendiary video that spread like wildfire across digital platforms, made bold and unsubstantiated claims against the plaintiff (Nakhua). The insidious intent behind this video lies in its unfounded insinuation that the plaintiff is somehow linked to violent and abusive troll activities,” the BJP spokesperson stated.

In the lawsuit filed against Rathee, Nakhua also claimed that the YouTuber intended to "tarnish his hard-earned standing in society" and "planted seeds of suspicion and mistrust that can have far-reaching consequences". He further claimed that the consequences of such allegations could result in "scars that may never fully heal".
