Delhi Coaching Centre Horror: UPSC aspirants among students killed in flooding at Delhi coaching centre

PTC News Desk: At least three pupils died on Saturday after being stranded in the basement of a well-known teaching facility in Delhi for more than four hours due to an unexpected water leak.

The ages of the three victims have been revealed as Tania Soni, 25, Shreya Yadav, 25, and 28-year-old Navin Delvin. Navin lived in Kerala, Tania was from Telangana, and Shreya was from Uttar Pradesh. Each one of them was getting ready for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examinations.

Images from Old Rajendra Nagar, West Delhi, on Saturday night revealed Rau's IAS Study Circle's basement fully flooded. At 7:19 p.m., according to fire department officials, they received a call regarding students who were trapped in the basement. Five fire engines were sent to help with the rescue efforts.

To help with the rescue effort, a team from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) was also dispatched. According to officials, the basement was flooded as a result of a drain blowing up. Hours after the rescue operation started, the bodies of two female students were removed, and later that night, the body of the third student was found.

What May Have Led To Flooding

According to preliminary findings, there may have been numerous pupils within the subterranean library, which could accommodate roughly 150 people, when water unexpectedly entered.

According to the inquiry, one of the reasons water may have entered the institute so rapidly following a severe downpour was that the coaching center was constructed on a slope. It's also said that the basement door was broken by the water flow. The possibility that the flooding resulted from the street's sewage drain overflowing is also being investigated.

A police officer stated that as the institute flooded, the furniture began to float, which hindered the rescue efforts. The unfortunate event happened just a few days after a UPSC candidate in Patel Nagar, West Delhi, was electrocuted while attempting to cross a flooded street.
