Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta accorded with Z category security cover
PTC News Desk: BJP MLA Rekha Gupta, who took office as Delhi Chief Minister on Thursday, has been granted 'Z' category security by the Delhi Police, following a recommendation from the Ministry of Home Affairs, a senior official confirmed to The Tribune.
Security provisions for Members of Parliament, Chief Ministers, and other high-ranking officials are made according to the guidelines outlined in the 'Yellow Book,' which is primarily based on a thorough threat assessment conducted by security agencies.
The Delhi Police have already enhanced security measures at CM Rekha Gupta’s residence in Shalimar Bagh, from where she was elected as a legislator. 'Z' category security involves a team of 22 personnel, including 4-6 CAPF commandos (from ITBP and CRPF) alongside Delhi Police officers.
Gupta will have 24/7 protection from three Personal Security Officers (PSOs), who will work in rotating shifts of 8 to 9 hours. As part of the security arrangements, Gupta will be accompanied by a convoy of five vehicles, including at least one bulletproof car for her travel.
Former Chief Minister Atishi was also provided 'Z' category security by the Delhi Police, following instructions from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).
