Delhi assembly elections: Kejriwal announces monthly salary of Rs 18,000 for priests, granthis if voted to power
PTC News Desk: Ahead of Delhi assembly elections and stir over Aam Aadmi Party's schemes, ruling government has announced another poll promise. Former Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal in a major announcement promised a monthly salary of Rs 18,000 for priests of temples and granthis of gurudwaras if the party is voted to power.
Addressing a press conference, Kejriwal said, “Priests and granthis have been the custodians of our religious customs, serving society selflessly. Unfortunately, no one has ever taken care of their financial well-being.”
आम आदमी पार्टी के जीतने पर दिल्ली में मंदिरों के पुजारियों और गुरुद्वारा साहिब के ग्रंथियों को ₹18,000 प्रति माह की सम्मान राशि दी जाएगी।

Kejriwal said that the registration process for the same will begin from December 31 and he himself will overlook the process at Hanuman Temple. “I request the BJP not to create hurdles in the registration process. Blocking this will be akin to committing a sin as they are our bridge to God,” he added.
The latest announcement comes few days after a controversy was erupted over AAP's welfare schemes promises. He first announced the Sanjeevani scheme for senior citizens, then the Mahila Samman Yojana, and now the monthly salary scheme for priests.
The welfare schemes landed in controversy when two departments of the Delhi government alleged that no such schemes existed and cautioned the residents of national capital against meeting with cyber fraud.
Delhi Assembly elections are scheduled to be held before February 2024.
