Gujarat: 'Dead' man walks into prayer meet being held for him
PTC News Desk: People attending a prayer meeting in Gujarat's Mehsana were taken aback when they noticed a special visitor at the solemn gathering. The person they were mourning now stood before them.
According to reports, Brijesh Suthar went missing on October 27 from his home in Naroda, Ahmedabad. His relatives searched for him and filed a missing person complaint after being unable to locate him.
On November 10, two weeks after he went missing, police found an unclaimed, decaying body near the Sabarmati Bridge in Gujarat's largest city. The body resembled Suthar's physique, so his relatives assumed it was his and cremated it.
According to the family, the 43-year-old businessman had been suffering from mental health concerns and stress as a result of his financial interests.
"We searched for him everywhere. His phone was turned off. Then the police showed us a body. It was swollen, and we misidentified it and cremated it," Brijesh's mother said.
However, his reappearance has raised a serious question for the police: Whose remains were cremated by the Suthar family?
"The unidentified body was found in an unclaimed corpse. A postmortem examination was performed, and the results were given to the Suthar family," a police officer said.
Furthermore, it is unknown where the businessman was during his disappearance or how he managed to return, especially on the day of the prayer meeting in his memory.
