Coupling of Magadh Express breaks, train splits in two in Bihar

PTC News Desk: The Magadh Express train from New Delhi to Islampur broke up between Twiniganj and Raghunathpur railway stations in Bihar's Buxar district on Sunday, according to officials. 

According to reports, no one was hurt in the incident, which took place around 11.08 a.m. between Twiniganj and Raghunathpur railway stations.


Sharswati Chandra, Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) of East Central Railway, said that the incident occurred when the coupling of the Magadh Express (20802) from New Delhi to Islampur broke, dividing the train in two between Twiniganj and Raghunathpur railway stations.

The incident happened as the train crossed Twiniganj. It uncoupled between coach number S-7, the thirteenth from the train engine, and coach no. S-6, the fourteenth from the engine, between Twininganj and Raghunathpur on the down line. A rescue team and technical teams have arrived at the scene, and officials are working to resolve the situation as soon as possible, according to the CPRO.

The CPRO stated that train traffic on the down line will be disrupted for some time but will be restored in about an hour. He stated that an investigation would be launched to determine the actual cause of the accident.
