CM Stalin writes to PM Modi, flags concerns over Hindi language oriented events in non-Hindi states

PTC News Desk: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has written a letter to Prime Minister Modi condemning celebration of Hindi Month valedictory function along with the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Chennai Doordarshan.

CM Stalin took to his instagram and wrote that celebrating Hindi Month in non-Hindi speaking states is seen as an attempt to belittle other languages.  "I suggest that holding such Hindi-oriented events in non-Hindi speaking states could be avoided, and instead, the celebration of the local language month in the respective states should be encouraged," he further added.

Chief Minister's criticism comes in the wake of growing attempt to accelerate the influence of Hindi language in states where it is not the primary language. It has been a common concern amongst the regional leaders.

The Chief Minister proposed that the Union government should avoid organising such Hindi-focused celebrations in states where Hindi is not widely spoken. He suggested that if the government insists on proceeding with these events, it should also celebrate local languages in respective states with equal warmth.
