China rapidly expanding infrastructure along LAC, India responding with upgrades: IAF Chief AP Singh

PTC News Desk: Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, during a press conference on Friday ahead of the Indian Air Force Day, highlighted China's accelerated efforts in building infrastructure along the Line of Actual Control (LAC), particularly in the Ladakh sector. He emphasised that India is also upgrading its own border infrastructure in response to these developments.

Singh addressed the growing geopolitical tensions worldwide and stressed the importance of indigenously developed weapons systems to tackle future security challenges effectively. “The Indian Air Force (IAF) aims to have its entire inventory produced domestically by 2047,” he stated, outlining a long-term vision for self-reliance in defense manufacturing.

In response to a question regarding India's missile defense capabilities, the Air Chief Marshal confirmed that Russia has delivered three units of the S-400 missile system, with the remaining two units expected to arrive by next year.

Air Chief Marshal Singh, an ace test pilot, took over as the new Chief of the Indian Air Force last month from Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari, who retired after serving a three-year tenure.

Born on October 27, 1964, Air Chief Marshal Singh was commissioned into the IAF's fighter pilot stream in December 1984. Over nearly four decades of distinguished service, he has held several significant Command, Staff, Instructional, and Foreign appointments.

An alumnus of the National Defence Academy, Defence Services Staff College, and National Defence College, ACM Singh is also a Qualified Flying Instructor and Experimental Test Pilot, with over 5,000 hours of flying experience on various fixed and rotary-wing aircraft.
