Chandigarh University's professor, two minor daughters killed as car catches fire in Haryana
PTC Web Desk: In a tragic accident, three members of a Chandigarh family, including two kids, died when their vehicle, Ertiga, reportedly caught fire due to a short circuit on the Ambala-Kurukshetra GT Road . The accident took place on November 2. The family was en route from Sonepat to Chandigarh.
The deceased have been identified as 37-year-old Sandeep Naseer, who was a professor at Chandigarh University, and his two daughters, Amanat (10) and Pari (6), both students at Sacred Heart School in Sector 26, Chandigarh. They died on the spot. Sandeep's other family members, his wife Lakshmi, his brother Sushil, Sushil’s wife Aarti, and their son Yash, as well as mother, Sudesh were also travelling in the car. The three women—Lakshmi, Sudesh, and Aarti—sustained severe burns and were rushed to PGI Chandigarh.
According to police reports, the fire broke out around 10.40 pm near Mohri village. Eyewitnesses said as the car reached the area, it suddenly ignited, trapping the occupants inside. The situation escalated further when an explosion occurred within the vehicle. Passersby attempted to rescue the trapped persons, successfully pulling five to safety, but unfortunately, Sandeep and his two daughters could not escape the flames.
An accidental death report has been registered.
