The tableau proposed by Delhi has been rejected by the committee formed by the Ministry of Defence citing non-compliance with the stipulated parameters. The selection process was conducted by an expert committee set up by the Ministry of Defence, with representatives from various ministries.

According to the defence ministry, a total of 15 tableaux from states and Union Territories will be featured in Republic Day parade. The list includes Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Goa, Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh and Tripura. The Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli also made to the list.

The tableau of the national capital has been rejected for the fourth consecutive year raising further eyebrows over the state's long standing feud with Centre over raft of issues.

Delhi’s tableau has featured in the parade seven times in the last two decades,” said one of the officials.  The guidelines related to the tableau state that every state and UT will get to feature in the parade once in three years if it meets the laid-down criteria.
