CBI arrests suspect for stealing NEET-UG paper from NTA trunk, reports says

PTC News Desk: Two persons were detained by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday for allegedly stealing the NEET-UG question papers.

According to PTI, one of those detained had taken the NEET-UG paper out of the National Testing Agency's trunk. According to India Today, those detained have been named as Raju Singh of Hazaribagh and Pankaj Kumar of Patna.

It was claimed that both had something to do with the question paper's theft and distribution. The primary suspect, Rakesh Ranjan, often known as Rocky, was taken into custody by the CBI earlier this month in Nalanda, Bihar.

One of the main participants in the NEET paper leak is thought to be Rakesh Ranjan. To apprehend Ranjan, the CBI set up a trap and carried out searches at four different sites in Patna and Kolkata. To date, the agency has made over a dozen arrests in an effort to uncover the conspiracy that set up a severe political storm.

Utilising cutting-edge investigative methods, the CBI has been able to locate and detain individuals responsible.

"Ranjan was located and identified through a detailed analysis of digital footprints, including IP addresses and email communications, underscoring the agency's dedication to employing cutting-edge technology in its efforts to combat corruption and fraud," a source told ANI.

On May 5, 2024, the NEET-UG test was tarnished by accusations of paper leaks and cheating. Inconsistencies also existed in the assessment procedure, since 67 candidates received all 720 points. The exam's administrator, the National Testing Agency (NTA), came under heavy fire. The NTA was eliminated by the government.
