Big BSP shakeup: Party chief Mayawati removes nephew Akash Anand from all party position
PTC News Desk: In a major shift in leadership structure, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati on Sunday removed her nephew Akash Anand from all the party posts. While signalling a major shake-up the BSP appointed his father and party general secretary Anand Kumar, along with Rajya Sabha MP Ramji Gautam, as the new national coordinators.
Mayawati emphasised that the progress of Uttar Pradesh's Bahujan community is crucial not just for the state's development but also for the nation's overall advancement. She also detailed the preparations for the upcoming celebrations of BSP founder Kanshi Ram's birth anniversary, reaffirming the party's dedication to his ideology.
Mayawati accused Ashok Siddharth of weakening the BSP’s organizational strength by fostering divisions within the party. She pointed to recent incidents, including events related to his son's wedding, as evidence of his efforts to undermine the party. Calling his actions unacceptable, she stated that they led to his expulsion.
Regarding Akash Anand’s removal, Mayawati explained that it was a necessary decision due to the potential influence of his father-in-law. She suggested that Siddharth’s actions had already begun shaping Anand’s political approach in ways that did not align with the party’s interests. Holding Siddharth solely responsible, she asserted that he not only harmed the BSP but also derailed Anand’s political career.
