Bhubaneswar Shocker: Mutilated body of lady journalist found on railway tracks; husband arrested
Bhubaneswar Shocker: The mutilated body of Madhusmita Parida, a journalist for a web channel, was discovered on the railway tracks in the Bapuji Nagar area of Bhubaneswar on Wednesday night.
The police have arrested her husband, Sridhar Jena, an Air Force employee, on charges of abetment to suicide, according to Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh.
Parida and Jena had been married for approximately four months. An investigation revealed that their relationship had deteriorated after Parida discovered Jena’s alleged extramarital affairs.
Jena had reportedly threatened to divorce her, exacerbating the strain on their marriage.
On July 22, Parida visited the Dhauli police station, accompanied later by her mother, to report that Jena, who had returned to Odisha on holiday 12 days earlier, was ignoring her.
Despite this, the couple submitted a written statement to the police on July 23, claiming their relationship was normal and that they had no complaints against each other.
The police suspect Parida had seen something on Jena's phone that confirmed his infidelity, which disturbed her deeply.
Jena's mobile phone has been seized, and CCTV footage is being reviewed to trace Parida's movements to the railway tracks where her body was found.
