Beating Retreat 2023: Grand show to feature classical ragas, 3,500 drones to illuminate sky

New Delhi, January 28: This year's 'Beating the Retreat' ceremony, which will be graced by President and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces Droupadi Murmu at Vijay Chowk in the national capital on January 29, will feature Indian tunes based on Indian Classical Ragas.

According to the Ministry of Defence, the music bands of the Army, Navy, Air Force, State Police, and Central Armed Police Force will perform 29 captivating and foot-tapping Indian tunes.


The ceremony will also feature Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. The event will feature the country's largest Drone Show, featuring 3,500 indigenous drones.

The drone show will illuminate the evening sky over the Raisina hills, weaving a plethora of national figures/events in seamless synchronisation. It will showcase the startup ecosystem's success, the technological prowess of the country's youth, and pave the way for future game-changing trends. Botlabs Dynamics will organise the drone show.

For the first time, a 3D anamorphic projection on the North and South Block blocks will be organised during the Beating Retreat Ceremony.

According to the Defence Ministry, the ceremony will begin with the massed band's 'Agniveer' tune, which will be followed by enthralling tunes like 'Almora,' 'Kedar Nath,' 'Sangam Dur,' 'Queen of Satpura,' 'Bhagirathi,' and 'Konkan Sundari' by Pipes and Drums band.
