Bajaj Finance manager ends life, cites work pressure in heartbreaking letter

PTC Web Desk: A 42-year-old Bajaj Finance area manager, Tarun Saxena reportedly ended his life in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, citing unbearable work pressure. In a note addressed to his family, he revealed his struggles with unachievable targets and the stress caused by his superiors' constant threats and salary deductions.

Tarun Saxena's body was discovered by a house help this morning, and his wife and two children were found locked in a separate room. He is survived by his parents, wife Megha, and children Yatharth and Pihu.

In a five-page letter, Tarun described how he had been under immense pressure for the past two months to meet EMI collection targets for Bajaj Finance. Despite his efforts, he had been unable to meet the targets due to various issues. He expressed deep anxiety about losing his job and described how his seniors humiliated him repeatedly. "I am very tense about the future. I have lost my ability to think. I am going," he wrote.

Tarun alleged that he and his colleagues were forced to cover unrecovered EMIs out of their own pockets. He said he had raised concerns with his superiors, but they refused to address the issues. "I have not slept for 45 days. I have hardly eaten. I am under a lot of stress. Senior managers are pressuring me to meet targets at any cost or quit," he wrote.

In his final message, he asked his family to take care of his wife and children and apologised for the pain caused. He also asked his relatives to ensure his family receives his insurance money. He named the managers he held responsible for his death and urged his family to file a police complaint against them.

Tarun's cousin, Gaurav Saxena, confirmed that the pressure from his superiors had escalated during a video conference just hours before his death, where they allegedly threatened to fire him.

The police are awaiting the post-mortem report and have confirmed they will take action if the family files a formal complaint.

This incident follows another high-profile case of workplace stress, where 26-year-old chartered accountant Anna Sebastian Perayil died after experiencing intense work pressure at Ernst & Young India. The Union Labour Ministry has launched a probe into her death.
