Atishi, Kejriwal's close aide, will be new Delhi CM
PTC News Desk: Aam Aadmi party has announced Atishi as the new Delhi Chief Minister. The development comes as Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday announced his decision to resign as Delhi Chief Minister.
Notably, Arvind Kejriwal proposed the name of Delhi Minister Atishi as the new Chief Minister. She has been elected as the leader of Delhi AAP Legislative Party.
Atishi will be the third woman to hold the top post in national capital after Sushma Swaraj and Sheila Dixit and second woman after Mamata Banerjee to sit on CM's chair at present.
According to sources, there will be no Deputy Chief Minister, and Atishi will take oath during a special Assembly session scheduled for September 26-27.

Atishi now has key ministries in the Delhi government, including the Education and Public Works Department. The 43-year-old Kalkaji MLA was appointed minister after Manish Sisodia was arrested in a corruption case involving Delhi's now-scrapped liquor policy. When Kejriwal and Sisodia were jailed, Atishi stated the party's stance at party events and media interviews.
On August 15, Kejriwal chose her to hoist the tricolour at the Delhi government's Independence Day celebration. While Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena disrupted the plan, it was evident that the AAP leadership had great faith in Atishi.
