Diljit Delhi concert aftermath: Athletes agitated after stadium left in a complete mess
PTC News Desk: Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium's condition following Diljit's concert has left the athletes agitated. The stadium was left in total mess as garbage was littered, alcohol bottles strewn around after singer's concert held on October 26 and 27 with athletes complaining about broken equipment.
An athlete posted the aftermath video of the stadium questioning the authorities over the mismanagement. He further stated that athletes will not be allowed to practice for another 10 days. Meanwhile, several parts of the track were soaked in liquid and stained.
He also stated that many other athletes are unable to continue the training because of the mess, especially when their junior National championship is round the corner.
"Many of the athletes here have their junior National championships in 20-25 days but they have been unable to train in this time," he said.
"This is the situation of sport, sportspersons and stadiums in India. There will be geniuses who will point out once in four years that medals do not come in the Olympics. This is because there is no respect and support for sportspersons in this country," he said.
The concert had a gathering of more than 35,000 attendees and the tracks were soaked in garbage and fluid. According to the reports, the concert organisers have hired the stadium till November 1 following which all the garbage and debris will be cleared out.
