Assam accident: 12 dead, 25 injured after truck-bus collision
Assam accident: At least 12 people were killed and 25 others were injured when a bus carrying them collided with a truck in Assam's Golaghat district on Wednesday morning.
According to police, the truck-bus collision occurred in the Balijan area of Golaghat district, near Dergaon.
The accident happened around 5 a.m. on Wednesday, according to Rajen Singh, Superintendent of Police in Golaghat district.
"The bus carrying a team was going towards Tilinga Mandir from the Kamarbandha area of Golaghat district. The bus collided with a truck in the Balijan area and the truck was coming in the opposite direction from Jorhat's side. 10 bodies were recovered from the site and sent to Dergaon CHC. 27 injured persons were referred to Jorhat Medical College & Hospital where two people succumbed to their injuries," Rajen Singh informed.
Locals rushed to the scene after the incident and began rescue operations.
According to the SP of Golaghat district, 12 people have died as a result of the accident.
"Our investigation is ongoing, and we will take appropriate action," Rajen Singh stated.
