'Either our water will flow or their...': Pak's former minister Bilawal Bhutto issues threat as row deepens

PTC News Desk: Amid growing anger in Pakistan over the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari declared that Pakistan is the rightful heir of the Indus civilisation.

At a public rally on Friday, he issued a stark warning to India, saying, “The Indus belongs to us and will remain ours. Either our water will flow through it, or their blood will.” His remarks further escalated tensions between the two countries in the aftermath of the Pahalgam Terror Attack

The treaty, established in September 1960 after prolonged negotiations, regulates the usage and distribution of six rivers in the Indus basin between India and Pakistan. Its suspension could have severe consequences for Pakistan, which relies on it to irrigate 80% of its farmland.

"He (Modi) says they are heirs to a civilisation thousands of years old, but that civilisation lies in Mohenjo Daro, in Larkana. We are its true custodians, and we will defend it," Bhutto said.
