Amit Shah slams Rahul Gandhi for 'anti-national statements' made in the US
PTC News Desk: Union Home Minister Amit Shah launched a fierce attack on Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday, accusing him of making "anti-India" and "anti-national" statements during his recent trips abroad. Shah claimed that Gandhi's remarks posed a threat to national security and hurt the sentiments of the Indian public.
In a series of tweets, Shah criticised Rahul Gandhi for consistently aligning with forces that seek to divide the country. He pointed to Gandhi’s support for controversial agendas, such as the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference's (JKNC) position on reservations and the political situation in the region.

The Union Home Minister further condemned Gandhi for comments made during his international visits, claiming that his statements revealed the Congress party’s strategy of fostering divisions along regional, religious, and linguistic lines. "Rahul Gandhi's statement lays bare the Congress's politics of causing rifts on the lines of regionalism, religion, and linguistic differences," Shah stated.
Shah also took aim at Rahul Gandhi's remarks on India's reservation system, which have sparked significant controversy. Gandhi had suggested that the country should only consider scrapping reservations when it becomes a "fair place." Shah accused Gandhi of exposing the Congress party’s "anti-reservation face," adding, "By speaking about abolishing reservations in the country, Rahul Gandhi has once again brought the Congress's anti-reservation face to the forefront."

In a stern message to Gandhi, Shah emphasised the BJP's commitment to protecting reservations and national security. "The thoughts that were in his mind eventually found their way out as words. I want to tell Rahul Gandhi that as long as the BJP is there, neither can anyone abolish reservations nor can anyone mess with the nation's security," Shah declared.

Amit Shah's remarks followed a series of controversial statements made by Rahul Gandhi during his trip to the United States, where he addressed topics such as reservation and religious freedom in India. Speaking at Georgetown University in Washington D.C., Gandhi said that India should only consider scrapping reservations when the country achieves fairness. "We should think of scrapping reservations only when India becomes a fair place. And India is not a fair place right now," he said.
In another event in Virginia, Gandhi addressed religious freedom in India, framing the current political struggle as a fight for religious rights. "The fight (in India) is about whether a Sikh is going to be allowed to wear a turban...whether a Sikh will be allowed to wear a kada or go to the Gurudwara. That's what the fight is about, and it's not just for Sikhs, but for all religions," Gandhi said.
These statements have ignited a political firestorm, with several top BJP leaders, including Amit Shah, denouncing Gandhi’s remarks as detrimental to India's national interests.
