What is Blue Aadhaar Card : Step-by-step guide to apply for your child
PTC News Desk: The Aadhaar card holds significant importance in India as a unique identification document. Issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), it serves as a crucial proof of identity and address for Indian residents. The Aadhaar card contains a 12-digit unique identification number that is linked to an individual's biometric and demographic information.
The Aadhaar card is widely used for various purposes, including opening bank accounts, availing government subsidies and benefits, obtaining a SIM card, and participating in government schemes and programs.

Aadhaar cards are available in two distinct categories to cater to different demographic :
Aadhaar Card for Adults
Aadhaar Card for Children
The Aadhaar card issued to adults serves as a unique identification document for various purposes, including accessing government services, opening bank accounts, filing taxes, and more
UIDAI also issues Aadhaar cards for children, which are known as "Baal Aadhaar" or Aadhaar for kids. These cards are issued for children below the age of 18
The "Blue Aadhaar" is a concept introduced by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) for children. It refers to a special Aadhaar card issued for children below the age of 5 years.
The Blue Aadhaar card is designed to facilitate the registration of newborns and young children into the Aadhaar system.
It serves as a form of identification for children and contains basic demographic details such as the child's name, date of birth, and a photograph. The Blue Aadhaar card is issued free of cost and can be upgraded to a regular Aadhaar card once the child turns 5 years old.
For children below 5 years no biometrics will be captured. Their UID be processed on the basis of demographic information and facial photograph linked with the UID of their parents. These children will need to update their biometrics of ten fingers, iris and facial photograph, when they turn 5 and 15. Intimation to this effect will be mentioned in the original Aadhaar letter.
