Air India crew member assaulted in London hotel room: 'Dragged her on floor'

PTC News Desk: An Air India cabin crew member was reportedly attacked by an intruder in her hotel room at the Radisson Red Hotel near London’s Heathrow Airport earlier this week. The incident took place late Thursday night, leaving the crew member bruised and shaken.

According to sources cited by the Times of India, the incident occurred around 1:30 a.m. when the crew member, along with other Air India staff, was staying at the hotel. The attacker entered her room while she was asleep, startling her awake. As she screamed for help, the intruder assaulted her with a clothes hanger and dragged her across the floor as she tried to reach the door.

The crew member suffered significant bruising from the attack. Despite her efforts, the intruder attempted to flee the scene but was apprehended and handed over to the police. She was promptly taken to a hospital for treatment. Due to her injuries, she was unable to return to duty, and a colleague stayed behind to assist her.

Air India confirmed the incident and expressed deep concern over the unlawful intrusion. The airline is providing full support to the crew member, including professional counseling. They emphasized their commitment to the safety and well-being of their staff and are working with local authorities and the hotel management to ensure such incidents do not recur.

The incident has raised concerns among Air India’s crew, who have reportedly complained about inadequate safety measures at the hotel, including dark corridors, an unmanned reception, and suspicious individuals knocking on doors. Some crew members and pilots have expressed growing apprehension about the law and order situation in parts of Britain, including London, and are urging the airline to ensure that only hotels with robust security systems are selected for their stays.

Air India is cooperating with the local police to ensure that the incident is thoroughly investigated and that justice is served. The airline also requested privacy for those involved as they continue to offer support to the affected crew member.
