Acharya Laxmikant Dixit, priest who led Ram Temple's pran pratistha ceremony, dies

PTC Web Desk: Acharya Laxmikant Dixit, the chief priest who led Ram temple's Pran Pratistha ceremony in Ayodhya, died Saturday morning.

According to family members, the 86-year-old priest was not well for some days. His last rites will be performed at Manikarnika Ghat.


On January 22, Prime Minister Narendra Modi led a gathering to consecrate Lord Ram's idol at the Ayodhya temple.

Dixit, one of Varanasi's senior scholars, was born in the Solapur area of Maharashtra but has lived in Varanasi for several generations.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his condolences over Dixit's death.

Taking to X, the CM said, "The departure of Acharya Shri Laxmikant Dixit, a great scholar of Kashi and the chief priest of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Prana Pratishtha, is an irreparable loss to the spiritual and literary world." "He will always be remembered for his service to Sanskrit language and Indian culture." 

"I pray to Lord Shri Ram to give a place to the departed soul in his feet and give strength to his disciples and followers to bear this sorrow," he further said.
