PTC News Desk: Chief priest of Ram Temple in Ayodhya Acharya Satyendra Das confirmed that 300 kilograms of 'prasad' from the Tirupati temple was distributed to devotees during the consecration ceremony of the grand temple in January.

The revelation follows a controversy over the suspected use of animal fat in ghee for laddoo making at the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, which is managed by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).

"If animal fat was added into the 'prasad', it is unforgivable. Strict action should be taken against those responsible," Das added.

The TTD revealed that the lab report verified the presence of lard and other impurities in the ghee used by a contractor. An official indicated that the contractor responsible for delivering contaminated ghee had been blacklisted, and legal processes had been initiated.

The controversy emerged when Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu expressed worries about the quality of the 'prasad', claiming that animal fat was used during the previous YSRCP government led by YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Mr Naidu accused the YSRCP government of buying substandard ghee at lower prices, compromising the sacredness of Tirupati laddoos.
