High alert in Punjab |  Punjab is currently on high alert following reports of two Pakistani terrorists who infiltrated Indian territory and had dinner in a border village.

Intensifying security personnel's at border areas, both  Punjab and Jammu Police are now conducting a search operation to locate them.

The incident unfolded before the commencement of the Amarnath Yatra when Punjab Police was already focused on securing the pilgrimage route.

As per the reports, the Pakistani terrorists also had dinner in a border village as a local resident of Kot Bathian, a village near the international border, called the Pathankot police control room last night. He reported that two heavily armed terrorists had forced him at gunpoint to serve them dinner at his farmhouse.

High Alert in Pathankot and Gurdaspur

Following the incident, Punjab Police raised a high alert in Pathankot and Gurdaspur, initiating a search operation.

Meanwhile, increasing security, Punjab Police deployed security personnel in border areas of Pathankot district, particularly near Kathua district and at the Madhopur checkpoint near Lakhanpur in Punjab.

Moreover, police personnel also conducted 24-hour patrols in coordination with other security agencies.

The particular focus was on the Bamiyal area of Pathankot district, bordering Pakistan and adjacent to the Hiranagar area of Kathua district.

Strict Security Checks

Punjab police have ensured that every vehicle traveling between Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab undergoes strict security checks. Additionally, there is a heightened police presence at the Sunderchak Chak checkpoint near Kirdiyan Gandyal in Pathankot and on the road connecting Dunera via the Atal Setu bridge, in response to the rising terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir.

Despite these extensive measures, the suspected terrorists remain at large

How terrorists enter Punjab ?

The Ravi River, which forms the boundary with Pakistan, has openings in the iron fence that allowed terrorists to enter Punjab twice in 2015, leading to attacks on a police station in Dinanagar and an airforce base in Pathankot.

This development comes just days before the commencement of the Shri Amarnath Yatra, with pilgrims set to enter Jammu and Kashmir from Lakhanpur starting June 29.

The authorities advise the public to be watchful and report any suspicious activity. The search operation continues, with security authorities determined to avoid any disruptions to the impending Amarnath Yatra.
